The Ambassador Team of the Columbia City Area Chamber of Commerce recently chose a father and daughter team of business owners and their businesses as the business of the month.

Gary Hively, owner of long-standing business Aladdin Carpet Cleaning and daughter Lindsey Hively, owner of Kernel Colada’s Snack Shack, work together to make their corner of the business world a success.  Located on Walker Way, the short street that connects Main Street and Line Street, just south of U.S. 30, the Aladdin Carpet Cleaning truck is a familiar sight in Columbia City.

The company has serviced this area for many years and has supported the Chamber for an equally long time. And now he continues to support the business community here by helping his daughter, Lindsey, to get her business off the ground.  Walking into Kernel Colada’s Snack Shack is like taking a quick trip to the coast, creating a sense of the fun of vacation.  It offers a variety of snacks:  burgers, hotdogs with all the trimmings, ice cream, smoothies, and of course their huge array of all different flavors of caramel corn.

Aladdin’s has always been an active part of the community, and Kernel Colada’s is following suit as they have participated in numerous community projects in their short existence.  We appreciate the Hively’s commitment to the community with Aladdin’s long-term investment and furthering it by fostering a second new and unique business in this area. We wish them both well!

In addition to receiving a certificate, the businesses will be treated to an ice cream cake courtesy of DQ Grill and Chill.
