Parkview Whitley Hospital wants to remind residents that the hospital offers a Bedtime Basics for Babies/Safe Sleep Education program.
A 90-minute class, designed for parents who lack a safe place for their infant to sleep, provides education for safe sleep practices and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) risk reduction. Following completion of the class, parents are given a portable crib, crib sheet, sleep sack and pacifier. The class is part of a research project funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and First Candle.
In partnership with Indiana First Candle, Parkview is a distributor of safe and portable cribs. Co-sleeping with an infant, blankets in a crib and stuffed animals are some of the key factors that lead to unsafe sleep practices and place children in danger.
Pre-registration is required. To register or receive additional information, call 248-9321.
