The behind the scenes hustle and bustle is almost unimaginable as local residents do their culinary best in hopes of raising funds for a local agency that serves at risk youth.
The fifth annual benefit cookoff for The Center for Whitley County Youth is Thursday, April 12, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. at First Church of God.
Last year's brought together more than 400 local residents and raised over $41,000.
This year, four cooking teams will compete for honors including "Best Overall Meal" and "Most Creative," among others.
Celebrity chefs include former Senator Gary Dillon, State Representative Kathy Heuer, Pastor Hank Workman and Columbia City High School principal Jennifer Reiff.
There is no cost to attend the event, however donations are accepted. Matching incentives are in place to help increase the fundraising potential for the evening.
RSVP's are required for the event by April 1, 2012, by calling Jeff Wike at 248-4977 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
2012 sponsors include Whitley County Community Foundation, J&J Insurance Solutions, Copper Ridge Custom Homes and Chad Moore Photography.
