A little-known living opportunity exists for those who enjoy walking, appreciate history and access to parks -- and for those who find wonder in a birdseye view of Columbia City.
Indeed, for those age 55 and better with low to moderate incomes, there are many benefits to living in The Clugston on the Square in downtown Columbia City.
Once a turn-of-the-century hotel, the building was gutted and redeveloped in the 1990s with the help of the local preservation group People Preserving History and today offers studio, one and two-bedroom apartments.
"As always, utilities are included in the rent," said The Clugston's property manager, Tammy Nickolson. Nickolson said residents enjoy living at The Clugston for numerous reasons, but easy access to downtown amenities and festivals tops the list for many.
The facility is handicap accessible and has an elevator. Small pets are welcome. The facility also offers a beautifully appointed lobby where residents can be frequently found enjoying a quiet cup of coffee, reading or working on hobbies.
