The Whitley County Sheriff’s Reserves Organization held their third annual ATV ride Saturday morning, with participants enjoying a brisk, scenic 33-mile ride across Whitley County -- and helped raise $600 for the organization.
"We went around Tri-Lakes and up to Loon Lake and back to R&D Motorsports," said reserve member Tim Johnson, who helped coordinate the event again this year.
Following the ride, participants and other guests enjoyed a variety of activities at R&D Motorsports, including an ATV pull, mud bog, bounce house for the children and refreshments.
Johnson said 26 riders participated this year on ATVs and also in side by side UTVs. There were also 11 passengers who rode along.
"We are planning on doing this again next year so if anyone has any ideas or some easy trails that we could incorporate into the ride that would be great," Johnson added. "Everyone had a good time," he said of the roughly two-hour ride.
Sponsors for the event included R&D Motorsports, Buchanan Automotive, ReelCraft, City Chevy/City Ford, Northeastern REMC, Big G's Sports Café, Downtown on the Square, All-Pro Towing, Precision Arms of Indiana, Steel Dynamics and Farm Bureau Insurance.
Thankful for their contributes, Johnson said, "Without these sponsors we will not be able to do the great things that the Reserve Organization does throughout the year."
Proceeds from the ATV Ride will support the Whitley County Sheriff's Reserves Organization's general fund, assisting with training, equipment, community programs and other expenses.
