Fall cleanup days commence in Columbia City

From reports

Two fall cleanup days have been set for residents living inside Columbia City municipal limits.
The west side of Columbia City will be picked up on October 6. The east side will be picked up on October 13.
The City will be divided down Main St. (SR 9). Junk will be picked up Friday only! All trash will be picked up where your normal trash is put out for pickup. Items should not be put out prior to 2 weeks before scheduled junk pickup. West side of city includes any subdivisions that fall west of SR 9 (Main Street) such as Heritage Place/Chesapeake Landing, Wilkswood, Wood Dale, Deer Chase etc. that are within city limits. East side of city includes subdivisions thatfall east of SR 9 (Main Street) such as Eagle Glen, Irish Glen, Countryside Mobile Home Park and any off of Hanna Street that are within city limits.
There will be no charge this year for the following items: tires (maximum 15 total), stoves, washers, dryers, hot water heaters, dishwashers, refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers, batteries and any other appliances. These items will be picked up the week of May 1 and October 2, however you MUST call City Hall at 248-5100 to get on the list for pick ups. You must call by April 21 for spring pick up and by September 22 for fall pick up.
Computers, VCRs, televisions and monitors will not be picked up. These items should be taken to the recycling facility at 701 South Line Street. Additionally, concrete will not be picked up.
Construction material (no shingles are allowed), carpet and any other items should NOT be over 6' in length; if they are it could result in none of your junk being picked up. Anyone tearing down buildings such as sheds, garages, or remodeling large areas should contract with a hauler for a "roll-off" dumpster. LARGE piles of construction material will not be picked up. Paint cans opened and dried will be picked up, but containers with paint in them will be left at the curb for the property owner to dispose of. All junk must be placed where your normal trash is picked up before 5 a.m. on the Friday of your junk pickup. There will be no return trips. Please remember these are one-day events and help us by following these few guidelines. Your cooperation will make this year's trash pick up a success.
For additional information, contact Mayor Ryan Daniel at 248-5111.
