Heat won't stop the parade, officials say

In spite of soaring temperatures, parade officials say the show must go on. On Friday, parade chairman Misty Oliver issued a statement in hopes of quelling rumors that had been circulating the the heat might cause the cancellation of the annual American Legion Old Settlers Day Parade. "With much consideration it has been determined that the parade will proceed as planned with it beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 30," Oliver said. "The parade officials all encourage patrons to seek shade and keep hydrated with plenty of water and to keep an eye on each other, children and pets."
