Bridge repair begins Monday

From reports

The Indiana Department of Transportation announces that traffic will be restricted to one lane on SR 9 over Gangwer Creek on or after Monday, July 23, weather permitting. Bridge rehabilitation will take place between CR S 100 E-57 and CR E 400 S, south of Columbia City.

Motorists can expect to see heavy equipment placing a temporary barrier wall, as well as a temporary traffic signal to alternate vehicles over the single-lane bridge. Be prepared for stopped traffic while the contractor completes the bridge deck overlay.

INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through an active construction zone.

Restrictions on the SR 9 bridge are expected to remain through early November, weather permitting. The contract was awarded to Pioneer Associates for $3.7 million and includes the rehabilitation and maintenance of 14 structures throughout the Fort Wayne District.
