Policy changes limit new patron checkouts, changes fine collection

From reports

A couple of changes to South Whitley Community Public Library's circulation policy will affect new patrons and patrons who accumulate fines.
These changes are necessary to reduce the loss of materials and eliminate the practice of carrying fines for an extended period of time.
Starting September 1, new patrons will be limited to five print materials, and one movie per checkout. Audiobooks, CDs, or other materials may not be checked out by new patrons. The probationary period will last for 90 days from the date the card is issued.
Also, circulation staff will alert patrons of any outstanding fines at SWCPL on their account. Patrons will be asked to pay their fines in full by their next visit to the library. If the fine isn't paid in full, the account will be frozen and patrons will be unable to check out materials until the fine is paid. Fines must be paid in order to check out more materials.
Patrons can avoid fines by renewing their materials either online via Evergreen or by calling the library, 723-5321.
