Share your ideas to impact the region during Fort Wayne SOUP

From reports

Submissions are now being accepted for the last Fort Wayne SOUP event of 2019 on Thursday, September 19. Community members with ideas to improve or positively impact our region are encouraged to submit ideas for consideration. Ideas may be submitted through the website, fortwaynesoup.org until September 1.

Ticket sales are now open for the event, as well. This is the organization's fourth event for 2019, and 11th since it's inception in 2017) and will be held at The Summit (1025 W. Rudisill Blvd. Fort Wayne, IN 46807). Interested patrons may now reserve tickets on Eventbrite. Entry into the event is $5. Attendees receive 1 vote for the projects pitched to elevate Fort Wayne, as well as soup, salad, and bread. All tickets proceeds, as well as matching funds from sponsors, will be awarded to the winner of the evening's SOUP.

Fort Wayne Soup is micro-grant community dinner that uses crowd funding to help launch creative projects aimed to enhance Fort Wayne. At each SOUP dinner there are 4 presentations on projects ranging from art, urban agriculture, social justice, social entrepreneurs, education, technology and more. To date, Fort Wayne SOUP has donated over $14,000 to a variety of projects that have positively impacted our community. All ages are welcome to attend and submit proposals.

At SOUP's last event held in July, more than 125 people attended to listen to 4 presenters pitch ideas that would help Fort Wayne thrive. Each presenter had 4 minutes to pitch their idea and make the case as to why they should receive the most votes and win funding for their project. The presenter with the most votes received the money at the door, as well as matching sponsorship dollars.

Founded in 2017, Fort Wayne SOUP hosts micro-grant dinners that foster community and raise funds for creative projects that enhance Fort Wayne living. The public is encouraged to attend Fort Wayne SOUP events, as well as submit proposals that they wish to present. Proposals should have an underlying mission of improving the community of Fort Wayne and may be submitted for the upcoming events online at fortwaynesoup.org. A minimum of $5 entry donation at the door is encouraged. Attendees will receive food, a chance to ask questions, time to discuss and deliberate with other guests, and a vote towards which idea they like the most. The winner receives all the proceeds raised through ticket sales. Proceeds go towards making the winning pitch a reality.

Investing in our community is crucial for it to grow and thrive. Fort Wayne SOUP focuses on empowering those within our community who are looking to improve our city. Through crowdfunding, community support, and funds to make ideas come true, we can improve our community together. By empowering residents to invest in their own community, SOUP believes we can create jobs, relationships and networks, promote action and change, foster critical dialogue, instill Fort Wayne pride, and encourage a deeper understanding of democracy.
