Ellen Wood, 96

Ellen Cleo Wood, age 96, of Columbia City, passed away at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at The Oaks Living Care Center, Columbia City. Ellen Wood
Born in Whitley County on September 1, 1911, she was the daughter of William and Laura Belle (Egolf) Judd.
She attended school in Coesse. On March 21, 1927 she was united in marriage to Harold Wood at Reverend Luckenbill's parsonage in Columbia City. After her marriage, she resided in Coesse, later moving to a home on West Ellsworth Street in 1962. She moved into Oak Pointe in 2000.
Mrs. Wood was a homemaker her entire lifetime and was an active member of Columbia City United Methodist Church.
Survivors include sons, Bill (Phyllis) Wood, Robert D. (Barbara) Wood and Jimmy E. (Ada) Wood all of Columbia City; 8 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Pauline (Orval) Fisher of Columbia City and Louise Lee of Athens, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Wood on August 29, 1985, sisters, Opal Irene Brunner, Hilda Judd Wood, Bonnie Judd Deutsch, Faith Judd, Jean Judd and Ruth Tyner.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, ColumbiaCity. The funeral service is at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2008 at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Arnold of Columbia City United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Nolt Cemetery, Columbia City.
Memorial bequests may be given in memory of Mrs. Wood to Columbia City United Methodist Church Building Fund. Envelopes will be availabe at the funeral home.
