Phyllis E. (Stotz) Tonkel, 82, passed away Friday, April 4, 2008 at her home. She was born on Oct. 9, 1925 to George W. & Bertha (Fuchs) Stotz in Edgerton, Ohio. She was formerly employed with General Electric, Just Sew Fabrics and Hancock Fabrics. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and baptized on April 14, 1935 and confirmed May 24, 1959. She was also active with Dana Retiree Group. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking pies and cooking.
Surviving are a son, Daniel L. (Mary) Tonkel of Chicago; two daughters, Deanna E. (Greg) Porsch of Fremont and Darlene S. (William) Kyler of Columbia City; ten grandchildren, David Tonkel, Mathew Tonkel, Katherine Tonkel, Dale Porsch, Allyson Porsch, Chris (Leigh Ann) Porsch, Melissa Kyler, Brittney Kyler, Jeffery Tonkel and Kristin (John) Newton; two great-grandchildren; sisters Kathleen (Irvin) Robarge, Janice (Sam) Oyer, and Maralyn (Frank) Cape; brothers Kenneth Stotz and George (Sharon) Stotz.
She was preceded in death by husband Harry W. Tonkel, Jr. in 2007, son David W. Tonkel in 1993, a brother, Richard "Bud" Stotz and sisters Ruth Cooley, Eleanor Jesse, Jean Bowman and Deanna Stotz.
The service is 12 p.m. on Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 3705 South Anthony with calling one hour prior. Calling also 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne.
Committal at Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne.
Preferred memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or School.
