Alan McArthur Dixon, 65

Alan McArthur Dixon, age 65, of Pierceton, passed away at 6:50 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008 at Parkview Whitley Hospital Emergency Room, Columbia City, after becoming suddenly ill while working on a race car in South Whitley.
Born on June 12, 1942 in Lafayette, he was the son of Roscoe Francis "Bud" and Alice Ruth (Gaff) Parker.
He attended Larwill High School and spent his lifetime in Larwill, South Whitley, Warsaw, Pierceton and has lived at his present home for the past 30 years.
He first worked at Weatherhead Company, Columbia City, Hand/Duralite, Othy, Warsaw, and then he served as a foreman for the ABC Company, Nappanee. He retired from Hands Industry, Warsaw, as a maintenance and machine operator, where he continued to work part time.
He was a member of Whitley County Coon Hunters Club and was avid race car fan. Survivors include his three sons, Tracey Alan Dixon of Pierceton, Michael Alan Dixon, Warsaw, and Martin Lee (Angela) Dixon, North Manchester; his mother, Alice Ruth Parker, Larwill; 3 brothers, William L. Parker, Larwill, Tom M. (Janice) Parker, Pierceton, and Jack (Jane) Parker of Warsaw; two sisters, Sharon (Gary) Gohlke, Carson City, Nevada and Janice Kay Andrews, Larwill; three grandchildren, Lindsay, Shay and Kaige Dixon and two step-grandchildren, Brittani and Audrey Weimann.
He is preceded in death by his father, Roscoe Francis "Bud" Parker, two brothers, John and Robert Wayne Parker and a brother-in-law, Gene Andrews.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Nixon of the Christ Covenant Church, Winona Lake, officiating. Burial will follow at the West Etna Community Cemetery.
