Amy A. McKinney, 92, of Columbia City, died at 10:45 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Parkview Whitley Hospital. She had been a resident at The Oaks Living Center since May 5, 2000. 
She was born June 16, 1915, in Portland, Indiana, a daughter of Herman R. and Amelia Marie (Fox) Frank. In 1929, her family moved to Columbia City and established the H.R. Frank Greenhouse where she assisted in the operations for many years.
She graduated from Columbia City High School.
On October 16, 1938, she was united in marriage to Wayne W. McKinney. They made their first home in Larwill, later moving to Columbia City. They resided in South Bend for 12 years before returning to Columbia City in 1958. Mr. McKinney died December 15, 1986.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Sandra McKinney of South Bend, Jeanne (Dave) Guske of Avon Park, Florida and Dianne (Paul) Bravell of Fort Wayne; a son, Wayne Edmond McKinney of Safety Harbor, Florida; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Glenn Frank and Dale Frank, both of Columbia City.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Wilson John Frank, Marcus Frank, Hugh Frank and Marion Frank; and two sisters, Evelyn Frank and Alice Frank.
The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Rev. Dennis Beckner, pastor of Columbia City Church of the Brethren, officiate p.m. The burial will be in Stough Cemetery. The visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 Tuesday at the funeral home.
