William G. Thomas Sr., 83, of Kimmell, died Thursday May 29, 2008 at Parkview Whitley Hospital.

Born Oct. 7, 1924 in Fort Wayne he was a WW II Army veteran. He was a retired home builder and member of Sugar Grove Church of God where he served as an elder, trustee, superintendent and enjoyed men’s brotherhood group and ice cream socials. He also attended Ormas Baptist Church. He

 had a passion for woodworking, playing the harmonica and helping others.

He married Pearl Mae Grabach on Oct 7, 1944, and she preceded him in death in 1993. He is survived by his second wife, Peg (Berkes) Earnhart whom he married on Jan. 6, 1996; sons, Bill (Roxanne) Thomas and Dave (Renee) Thomas both of Columbia City; daughters, Linda (Jim) Heath of Columbia City, Lynn (Kevin) Bricker of Athens, Wisconsin, and Audrey (Dan) Barton of Vevay, Indiana; stepchildren, Randy (Cathy) Earnhart of Fort Wayne and Cindy (Roger) Niles of Syracuse; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters.

Funeral service 1p.m. Sunday with calling one hour prior at Covington Memorial Funeral Home 8408 Covington Rd. Calling Saturday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Sugar Grove Church of God 5019 E. 500S Churubusco. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.
