Betty L. Wiley, age 89, of Kendallville died on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Shepherd of the Hill, Kendallville.

She was born in Swayzee, Indiana, on January 12, 1919, to Harley V. and Grace Jane (Trowbridge) Collins.

She graduated from Summitville High School in Madison County in 1936.

She married Reeley Wiley on February 14, 1942, in Marion. Mr. Wiley was a WWII veteran. He passed away on January 8, 2006.

Mrs Wiley was a clerk at the Whitley County Courthouse in Columbia City until she retired in 1982.

Mrs. Wiley was a member of the Kendallville VFW Ladies Auxillary. She also loved to play golf and be with her family and friends.

Survivors include four daughters - Marthene and Richard Phend of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; Myrna Sue and Thomas Wolfe of Columbia City; Sandra Kay and Donald Grim of Columbia City; Lynn S. Daily of London, Ohio; and 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and five sisters; Hattie Wimmer, Effie Spitzmesser, Ruth Horine, Dorothy Rigsby and Rosalie Collins.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 4, 2008, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Hite Funeral Home, Kendallville. Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Grant Memorial Park Cemetery in Marion, Indiana. Officiating the committal service will be her nephew Jerry Richards, an elder with the First Christian Church in Marion, Indiana.

Officiating the funeral service will be Rev. Paul B. Griebel of St. John Lutheran Church in Kendallville.

Preferred Memorials may be made to Shepherd of the Hill Nursing Home in Kendallville, Indiana.
