David Schwartz, 86, of South Whitley, passed away suddenly Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at his home.
A son of John and Rosie (Schumaker) Schwartz, he was born in Allen County on June 2, 1922. A lifetime farmer, he moved to his present home in Cleveland Township, Whitley County in 1975.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Anna Irene Miller Schwartz; six sons, John Henry (Margaret), Rueben, Samuel (Amelia), Michael (Margaret), Amos (Emma), and David (Marie) Schwartz, all of South Whitley; six daughters, Clara (Jesse) Graber of Goshen, Rosa (Jonas) Zehr, Mary (Jacob) Miller, Anna (Jacob) Schwartz, all of Grabill; Sarah (Edwin) Schmucker of New Haven, and Susan (Joe) Steury of Quincy, Michigan; 91 grandchildren; 203 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and a brother, Sam (Marie) Schwartz of New Haven.
He was preceded in death by daughters-in-law, Martha and Wilma; six grandchildren; four sisters and a brother.
The funeral service is at 9 a.m. Saturday at the family residence, 6180 West County Road
1000 South, with Bishop Lavern Schmucker officiating. Burial is at the Cleveland Township Amish Cemetery. Visitation is after 2 p.m. today at the family residence until the hour of the service.
Arrangements are by Smith & Sons Miller Chapel in South Whitley.
