Jerome Fry, 76, of Columbia City, passed away at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at his residence, after several months of courageously battling cancer. 
Born on October 3, 1931 in Warsaw, he was the son of Pastor Valmont A. and F. Beryl (Weeks) Fry. Jerome moved from Warsaw to Whitley County as a child and graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1949.
From December 20, 1948 until July 2, 1953, he served with the United States Navy as a seaman apprentice. His first marriage was in 1949 to Jean Delanoy. His second marriage was to Dayra J. Bailer on January 2, 1962, at the Free Methodist Church, Columbia City, and they moved in 1964 to Noble County where he resided for over 30 years. His third marriage was to F. Marie Wilcoxson Stickler on October 5, 1996, in Columbia City, shortly after, they built a home in Northland Estates. His fourth marriage was to Nuha Salahud-Din on May 2, 2008 at his Columbia City residence.
For 34 years, he was employed with Slater Steel, Fort Wayne, as a plumber/pipefitter. After 16 years of service, he retired from General Motors, Fort Wayne, as a pipefitter in the paint booth department.
He was a member of St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church, Columbia City, where he also served as a Sunday School teacher. In his spare time, he enjoyed singing as a member of the Chain-O-Lakes Barbershop Chorus.
Survivors include his wife, Nuha Salahud-Din-Fry, Columbia City; four sons, Daniel A. (Marie) Fry of Albion, David E. Fry of Columbia City, Darren S. (Kelly) Fry of Albion, and Donald B. (Regina) Fry of Warsaw; 2 daughters, Joanne D. (Don) Wolff of Valparaiso and Heidi K. B. (Shawn) Marker of Hicksville, Ohio; four sisters, Jeanette (Gerald) Bills, Judith Hosler and Jayne Druley all of Columbia City and Joy Lewis of Winter Haven, Florida; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Dayra J. Fry, who passed away on March 14, 1995, and his third wife, F. Marie Wilcoxson Stickler Fry who passed away on January 19, 2007, a daughter, Daphne Jane Fry, a granddaughter, Brianna Marie Fry and two brothers, Jerry and Jack Fry.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral service is on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Michael Dillon of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Annex Cemetery, Columbia City, with graveside military rites being conducted by the Whitley County Korean War Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorial bequests may be given in memory of Mr. Fry to Chain-O-Lakes Barbershop Chorus or St. Matthew's United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
