Lorena M. Amburgey, 81, of Columbia City, died at 3:45 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2008 at her home.
She was born April 25, 1927, in Verde, Kentucky, a daughter of Wendell and Della (Hatmaker) Crutchfield. Her formative years were spent in Vicco, Kentucky.
On March 23, 1945, she was united in marriage to Arvel Amburgey. They made their home in Kentucky until 1964 when they moved to Columbia City. Mr. Amburgey died May 6, 1993.
She was employed at the former Blue Bell and Fibre Form in Columbia City. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Joann Parquette of Fort Wayne, Glenda Anglin of Columbia City and Nancey Hall of Hazard, Kentucky; three sons, Rick (Bonnie) Amburgey, Len (Kim) Amburgey and Ellis (DeDe) Amburgey, all of Columbia City; one brother, Clyde Crutchfield of Columbia City; three sisters, Ada Stair of Miami, FL, Beulah McIntosh and Lousie Byrd both of Lake City, TN.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Pastor Bill Smith of Free Will Baptist Church, officiating. The burial will be in South Park Annex Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday May 16th at the funeral home.
