Doris M. Bark, 84, formerly of Ossian and Columbia City, died at 3:45 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Peabody Home in North Manchester where she had been a resident since October 2006.
She was born August 16, 1923, in Brackenridge, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Frank Lester and Florence (Fleming) Jairy. Her formative years were spent in Brackenridge where she completed her education.
On August 16, 1941, she was united in marriage to Robert C. Bark. They lived throughout the United States while Bob served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. Following his discharge, they moved to Ossian in 1960. In July 1990 they moved to their home south of Columbia City in Stable Acres. Mr. Bark died December 2, 1999.
She was employed at Ossian Pharmacy for five years and Ossian Furniture for two years.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Judy Kovacs of Columbia City; two granddaughters, Laura Fields of Palatine, Illinois, and Meg Hicks of Columbia City; four great-grandchildren, Rebecca Fields, Ashley Hicks, Jennifer Hicks and Seth Hicks.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester Jairy and Raymond Baughman and a sister, Audrey Baker.
A private family graveside service will be held at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Ossian.
