Gladys I. Wakeman, 75, of Columbia City, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at Miller’s Merry Manor where she had been a resident since June 26. 
She was born September 10, 1932 in Noble County a daughter of James L. and Rosabell (Kugler) Guiff. Her formative years were spent in Noble County. She attended Churubusco schools graduating from Churubusco High School in 1950.
On December 27, 1952 she was united in marriage to Albert F. Wakeman. They made their home in Green Township, Noble County before moving to Columbia City in 1994. Mr. Wakeman died in 1994.
Surviving relatives include her father, James Guiff of Churubusco and three children, Jeanette (Ted) Erne, Linda (Kim) Hyndman and David (Cindy) Wakeman, all of Columbia City; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren and a brother, Gerald “Jerry” Guiff of Churubusco.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Audrey Valjack and Linda Guiff and a brother, Harry Guiff. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2008 at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Rev. George Reser, senior pastor of First Church of God officiating. Burial will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
