Barton Lee Smolek, 49, of Albion, free-spririted and fun-loving "Bart" died doing what he loved Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, four weeks after a motorcycle accident.

Born June 3, 1959, at McCray Manor in Kendallville, he was a truck driver for JAT Transportation for six years. He was a graduate of Central Noble High School and a member of New Heights Church.

He is survived by companion, Teresa (Speaker) Herron; children, Brian Lee (Sabrina) Smolek and Lisa K. Smolek; grandchildren, Cheyanne K. Smolek, Jordan J. Smolek, Sebastian K. Smolek and Colton L. Smolek; and siblings, Brook E. (Brenda) Smolek, Julie Newhouser, Bradley W. (Jerra) Smolek and Marna Morris.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur F. and Jacquelyn (Summers) Smolek; and a brother, Michael Smolek.

The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brazzell Funeral Home, Albion, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Lovings is officiating. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials to his Grandchildren's Trust.
