Gertrude L. Snepp, 92, a resident of Columbia City, died at 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, September 02, 2008, at Miller’s Merry Manor where she had been a resident since January 2008.
She was born October 10, 1915, in Jefferson Township, Whitley County, a daughter of Charles and Sarah A. (Cormany) Simon.

At age 10, after the death of her mother, the family moved to Fort Wayne. At age 16, they moved back to Columbia City where she attended Columbia City High School.
On April 7, 1934, she was united in marriage to Carl H. Snepp. They made their home in Columbia City. Mr. Snepp died April 3, 1971.
She was employed by the former Blue Bell of Columbia City for 36 years and was an Avon Representative for 23 years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
The surviving relatives include her a son, Ansley Snepp, Arlington, Texas, and a daughter, Barbara Klopfenstein, Columbia City; nine grandchildren including Kary Klopfenstein of Columbia City and David Klopfenstein of Keller, Texas; and15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Jesse, Howard, Carl, Burtis and Eldon Simon and six sisters, Alma Simon, Florence Gradeless, Mary Walker, Gladys Grabach, Elva Simon and Ruth Grabach.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home in Columbia City with Rev. Curtiss Johnson officiating. The burial will be in South Park Annex Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
