Gwendolyn Ann Roberts, 87

Gwendolyn Ann Roberts, 87, passed away at 10:10 p.m. at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, on Saturday, September 27, 2008.
Born on May 24, 1921, in Fort Wayne she was the daughter of Thomas D. and Pamela J. (Marsh) Roberts. 
She graduated from Southside High School, Fort Wayne, with the Class of 1939. She attended IU Extension, Fort Wayne, for two years and then Indiana University at Bloomington for two years graduating in 1945. She completed her education at Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio, graduating in 1953 where she received physical therapy training. Her formative years were spent in Fort Wayne moving to Battle Creek, Michigan, in 1953 and returning to Fort Wayne in June, 2008.
After becoming a registered physical therapist, she went to work for Ann J. Kellogg School for the physically challenged in Battle Creek, where she retired with 28 years of service. She was a former teacher at Washington Jr. High School in Fort Wayne for seven years.
She attended First Presbyterian Church, Fort Wayne, and she was a member of the Battle Creek Retired Teachers Association and a past member of Delta Zeta Sorority. 
Survivors include a sister, Effie Joan Behrens of Fort Wayne; nephews, Otto (Diane) Behrens of Columbia City and William (Beverly) Roberts of Angola; nieces, Effie Joan (Calen) Rayne of Black Mountain, North Carolina, and Joan (David) Cole of Fort Wayne; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, William B.M. Roberts and John David Roberts. 
At the request of Ms. Roberts, there will be no visitation.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, with Dr. Rev. John Stephen Parks officiating. Memorials may be given in memory of Ms. Roberts to First Presbyterian Church, 111 Capital Avenue NE, Battle Creek , MI 49017. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
