Florence M. Puckett, 85, of Columbia City, died at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Miller’s Merry Manor where she had been a resident since July 1.
She was born February 28, 1923 in Hillsborough County, Illinois, a daughter of Walter and Mary (Marshall) Kettelkamp. Her formative years were spent in Pana, Illinois.
On July 15, 1942 she was united in marriage to Leo Puckett. They moved to Columbia City in 1945. Mr. Puckett died October 18, 1965.
She worked at Blue Bell for several years.
Surviving relatives include a son, Roy (Susie) Puckett; three grandchildren, Michael Puckett, Brian Puckett and Trisha Reid, all of Columbia City; two step grandchildren, Wanda Sanchez and Charlie Collins, both of Fort Wayne; 13 great grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Gipson of Columbia City; and a brother, Bill Kettelkamp of Albion.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Puckett and a brother, Everett Kettelkamp.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Rev. J. Phillip Blake officiating. The burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
