Karen Sue Collar, 56, passed away at 11:35 a.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2008, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Born on July 8, 1952, in Columbia City, she was the daughter of Roger W. and Beatrice Irene (Trimmer) Collar.
She graduated with the Class of 1971 from Northside High School, Fort Wayne. She was currently attending Ivy Tech, Fort Wayne.
A lifetime resident of Fort Wayne, she was a former employee of Dana Corporation with 19 years of service. Survivors include a brother, Randal W. (Darlene) Collar of Columbia City; one aunt, Mildred Trimmer of Fort Wayne; niece, Melissa A. Collar of Dallas, Oregon; nephews, Ryan W. Collar of Syracuse and Lance Corporal Jonathon E. Collar, USMC of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; great-nephew, Matthias Keene of Dallas, Oregon; numerous cousins from Fort Wayne, Columbia City, and Howell, Indiana, Russellville, Arkansas and Warsaw, Missouri, and numerous aunts and uncles.
In addition to her parents, Roger W. Collar and Beatrice I. Carmichael, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Harley E. Carmichael and step-mother, Marguerite E. Collar. Visitation with the family is from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a memorial service following at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2008 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2008, at South Park Cemetery, Columbia City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the funeral fund in care of DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home.
