Max D. Wilkinson, 84

Max D. Wilkinson, of Larwill, died at 12:49 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2008 at Peabody Home, North Manchester, where he had been a resident since August 2006.
He was born December 23, 1923 in Etna Township, Whitley County, a son of Joseph R. and Mildred P. (Harshman) Wilkinson. He graduated from Larwill High School in 1941.
During World War II, he served in the United States Army.
In addition to farming in Cleveland and Richland Townships, he worked at International Harvester for a year.
He was a member of Collamer Christian Church.
Surviving relatives include two brothers, Galen (Betty) Wilkinson of Larwill and Larry D. (Mary) Wilkinson of Pierceton; three sisters, Joyce (Dale) Lawrence of Columbia City, Marilyn (Emmett) Pletcher of South Whitley and Donna (Fred) Martz of Columbia, MO; a sister-in-law, Janet Wilkinson of South Whitley; and several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Dayne and Carroll, preceded him in death.
The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
