Betty Lou “Betty Boop” Norton, 79, of Columbia City, died at 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at Miller’s Merry Manor where she had been a resident since Thursday October 23. 
She was born June 2, 1929, in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Samuel and Myrtle (Hoover) McCormick. Her formative years were spent in Fort Wayne where she attended the Harmer School. She received her GED in 1982.
She was employed by Motorola, Scottsdale, Arizon, from 1979 to 1991 as a supervisor. Prior employment included Supermarket Service and the former Seyfert Foods both of Fort Wayne.
She is survived by a son, James A. (Joe) Norton II of Indianapolis; four daughters, Cheryl (Don) Pequignot of Columbia City, Stephanie (Tom) Iehl of Fort Wayne, Patricia Parnin, Mary Batty, both of Columbia City; three sisters, Ruth Gongaware, Fort Wayne, Deloris Ross, Mesa, Arizona, Lillian Kage, New Haven; eleven grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, James and Ralph McCormick, two sisters Katherine Fromm and Flora Maggart, and a daughter, Marsha Kay Webb.
The funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, November 1, 2008, at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Rev. Stephen Johnson, pastor of Oak Grove Church of God officiating. The visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
