Deloris M. McCoy, 86, of Jefferson Township, Whitley County, died at 7:50 a.m. Thursday, November 27, 2008 at the Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
She was born April 19, 1922 in Hicksville, Ohio a daughter of Harley and Bonnie (Sleesman) Byroade. As an infant, her family moved to Fort Wayne. She graduated from South Side High School in 1940. 
On June 28, 1941 she was united in marriage to Roy G. “Sam” McCoy. Six months after marriage, they moved to the McCoy family farm in Jefferson Township.
She was employed at General Electric a year and retired from Jefferson Center School cafeteria in 1989 with 28 years of service.
Her church affiliation was with Jefferson Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Roy “Sam”; a son, Allen H. (Annette) McCoy of Columbia City; two daughters, Sharon (Dan) Kraft of Fort Wayne and Patricia (Randy Brower) Minnick of Columbia City; a daughter-in-law, Marcia McCoy of Columbia City; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a brother, Delmar Byroade of New Haven.
She was preceded in death by a son, Edward L. McCoy; two infant grandchildren; a brother, Alvin Byroade; and a sister, Doris Miller.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 1, 2008 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Rev. Leonard King officiating. The burial will be in Jefferson Chapel Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
