Vivian L. Shambaugh, 90, of Churubusco, passed away at 4:45 pm Friday, October 31, 2008 at The Oaks, Columbia City.  

Born on June 26, 1918, in Churubusco, she was the daughter of Frank and Leona (Hawn) Sheldon.

She was a lifetime resident of Churubusco and graduated from Churubusco High School with the Class of 1936. 

On March 21, 1942, she married Harold L. Shambaugh at Pastor Marion Shroyer's parsonage in Columbia City.  

She was a homemaker and assisted her husband on the family farm.  She was a member of Charter Oak Community Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for over 30 years and she loved gardening, baking and farming with her husband. 

Survivors include her two daughters, Bonnie J.(David) Zeigler of Churubusco and Nancy L.(Alan) Erwin of Churubusco; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold L. Shambaugh, a brother, Carl Sheldon and a sister, Treva Kikly. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home in Columbia City. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at the funeral home with Pastor David Schiedel officiating of Tri-Lakes Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.

Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Shambaugh's memory to Gideons International.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
