Bernice Baker, 103, mother of Barbara (Bill) Overdeer of Whitley County, passed away on Nov. 29, 2008, at The Oaks where she had lived for two years.

She was born October 9, 1905. Originally from Wells County, living in Petroleum and Bluffton, she moved to Whitley County when her age and declining health necessitated a closer proximity to her family.    

Survivors include her grandchildren Brent (Cindy) Bockelman, Lori (Brandin) Heuer, Mike (Angie) Overdeer, Mark (Jo) Overdeer, Mike (Dawn) Bockelman and Randy Bockelman, all of Columbia City, and Matthew (Becky) Overdeer of Clearwater, Florida. Additionally, she is survived by four great-granddaughters, 14 step-great-grandchildren, and three step great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial calling is from 3 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Thoma/Rich Chaney and Lemler Funeral Home, 308 W. Washington Street in Bluffton. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
