Everett Don Estes, 88

Everett Don Estes, 88, of Columbia City passed away at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Miller's Merry Manor in Columbia City.
Born on July 6, 1920 in Parma, Missouri, he was the son of Clyde and Beulah (Vick) Estes. 
Raised in Missouri, he attended school in Wiscow, Missouri, later moving to Dayton, Ohio. On July 6, 1939 he married Naomi Ruth Sissell in Piggott, Arkansas.
During World War II, he served in the United States Navy as a Radioman Third Class from May 6, 1944 until January 25, 1946.
He was employed by General Electric, Weatherhead, and retired from United Technologies.
He was a member of Lincolnway Church of Christ, Columbia City, Due Guard Lodge #278, F & A.M., Larwill, and was a Senior Life Member of the Scottish Rite Masons, Valley of Fort Wayne. 
Survivors include his son, Jack (Dee) Estes of Rockwall, Texas; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Ruth Estes, a son, Ronald Estes, grandson, Brian Estes, brothers, Ernest and Raymond Estes and sister, Sybel Estes Hiner. 
Visitation is Friday, December 26, 2008 from 9 to 11 a.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City. Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Friday immediately following visitation with Neal Noey officiating at the funeral home. Mr. Estes will be laid to rest beside his wife at Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne. Memorial bequests may be given in memory of Mr. Estes to the donor's choice of charity.
