Mary Catherine Riddle, 84, of Noble Township, Noble County, died at 1:06 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City where she was admitted on Sunday. 
She was born August 8, 1924, in Thorncreek Township, a daughter of Elmer Jacob and Daisy Ann (Buffenbarger) Cox. At the age of four, her family moved to Washington Township. She graduated from Washington Center High School in 1942.
On November 21, 1946 she was united in marriage to Stanley James Riddle. They always made their home on the Riddle family farm where they engaged in grain and dairy farming until 1987. Mr. Riddle died October 21, 1993.
In addition to assisting with the operations of the farm, including selling eggs for many years, she worked at Weatherhead for six years and did all occasion cake decorating for many years.
She was a member of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Rural Youth of Whitley County, active with the Whitley County Christmas Celebration for over 20 years, former director of Farmer’s Mutual Insurance Co. of Noble County and was involved with mission work in Whitley and Noble Counties including local food pantries.
Surviving relatives include two sons, Fred Alvin (Mariann) Riddle and John Edward (Sharon) Riddle, both of Albion; six grandchildren, Julie, Kevin, Jody, Amy, Sara and Steven; two sisters, Louise Easterday and Pauline Scott, both of Columbia City; and a sister-in-law, Dot E. Cox of Columbia City.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Roy Scott Riddle, and a brother, Eldon E. Cox.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Rev. Michael Dillon officiating. The burial will be in Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
