Steven K. Raypole, 44

Steven K. Raypole, 44, a native of Columbia City, died Wednesday, February 4, 2009.
He was born December 11, 1964 in Columbia City, Indiana a son of Dallas G. and Patricia A. (Ramp) Raypole. His formative years were spent in Columbia City. He graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1983 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in December 1988.
His employment included Cummins Electronics Company in Columbus, Indiana, from 1987 to 1990, Rapid Design Service Inc. in Dayton, Ohio, from 1990 to 1993, and lastly Delphi Corporation in Dayton, Ohio, from 1993 to 2007.

He received the Boss Kettering Award while at Delphi and was inducted into Delphi’s Engineering Hall of Fame. An intelligent man with incredible artistry, he had six United States Patents and five Defensive Publications.
He had been attending The Chapel.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Christon, Kayla and Olivia Raypole; his parents, Dallas & Pat Raypole of Fort Wayne; a sister, Kathy (David) Orzechowicz of Naperville, Illinois; two brothers, Randy P. Raypole of Cary, North Carolina, and Ron (Connie) Raypole of Columbia City; and his special friend, Becky Lee of Columbia City.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 9, 2009 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Eberhard Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
