Idelle Florentia Clemons, 91, of Columbia City, passed away at 9:00 a.m. Sunday, March 8, 2009 at her home. 
She was born August 6, 1917 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of August V. and Ellen B. (Swedenborg) Turnquist. Her formative years were spent in the twin cities. She graduated from Central High School in St. Paul.
From 1936 until 1943 she worked for Dr. Wilton Zinn D.D.S.
On May 13, 1943 she was united in marriage to Warren A. Clemons in New London, Connecticut. They made their home in St. Paul, Minnesota until 1950 when they moved to Minneapolis and later Brooklyn Center. In July 1960 they moved to Indiana, residing at Tri Lakes until 1991 when they moved into Columbia City. Mr. Clemons died December 25, 2001.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and U.S. Submarine Wives of WWII.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Marjorie (James) Willman of Ada, Michigan and Priscilla (Stanley) Peters of Tri Lakes; a daughter-in-law, Penny Clemons of Columbia City; eight grandchildren, Jimmy Willman, Trina Streling, Jen Garrett, Betsi Lankford, Steve Peters, Kristine DeHaven, Troy and Kaleb Clemons; and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Karl A. Clemons and Fred A. Clemons; a daughter-in-law, Dawn Clemons Lovely; and a brother, Verner Turnquist.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Rev. Dr. C. James Cress, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, officiating. The burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Larwill. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
