Roger Wayne Collier, 62

Roger Wayne Collier, 62, of Pierceton, passed away at 8:05 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Warsaw Meadows Nursing Home, Warsaw. 

Born on March 30, 1947, in Partridge, Kentucky, he was the son of Vincent L. and Pearl M. (Halcomb) Collier. 

He graduated from Columbia City Joint High School.  On November 1, 1991, he married Betty White in Warsaw.  He retired from Explorer Van and owned his own bakery-pastry pantry in Decatur. He was a resident of Pierceton for 19 years prior to that he was a resident of Columbia City for the majority of his life.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Collier of Pierceton; daughter, Lanaya "Tina" (Jason) Jones of Columbia City; sons, Domion (Dawn) Collier of Fort Wayne; Charles Collier of Pierceton, IN; 6 brothers, Timothy (Margaret) R. Maggard of Whitesburg, Kentucky; Dewey Ed Collier of Beattyville, Kentucky; Paul (Martine) L. Maggard of Whitesburg, Kentucky; Wallace (Peggy) Collier of Columbia City; Harold Collier of Columbia City; Rick Collier of Columbia City; 3 sisters, Stacy (Tom Frankart) M. Dear of Columbia City; Mantie (Don) L. Furnas of Warsaw; Sandra L. Collier of Columbia City; and 6 grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Janice Marie Proffitt; and a brother, Daniel B. Maggard. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Demoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home in Columbia City.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at the funeral home with Dr. David Biberstein of Pathway Community Church officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.  Memorial gifts may be given in Mr. Collier's memory to the Collier Family.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
