Charles H. Treece, 77

Charles H. Treece, 77, of Columbia City, died at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2009 at his home.

He was born June 23, 1931 in Huntington, Indiana a son of Claude and Alice (Reed) Treece. He began his schooling in Columbia City and graduated from Columbia City High School.

He served with the U.S. Air Force receiving his honorable discharge December 12, 1956.

Upon his return to Columbia City, he was employed by the city electric utilities where he worked until his retirement in 1992.

On June 25, 1966 he was united in marriage to Barbara Braden. They always made their home in Columbia City.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Barbara, two daughters, Joni Walters, Columbia City and Carla (Don Miller) Treece, Avon, IN; two grandchildren, Alisha (Adam Thompson) Treece and Marla Walters both of Columbia City; two great grandchildren, Dillon Thompson and Karter Thompson; a brother, Tony (Helen) Treece, Columbia City; two sisters, Margaret (Elmer) Schrock of Kansas and Beverly (Paul) Chappel, Columbia City and a sister-in-law, Betty Treece, Columbia City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Roger Treece.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home with Pastor John Cummings of Community Bible Church officiating. Burial will be in Nolt Cemetery.
