Ethel Gans, 85, of Wolf Lake, died Monday evening, May 4, 2009 at her home. 
She was born March 25, 1924 in Hi Hat, Kentucky a daughter of Bert and Lillie Mae (Orsburn) Stanley. She completed her education in Wheelwright, Kentucky.
On May 17, 1943 she was married to Thomas David Reed. They always made their home in Wolf Lake. Mr. Reed preceded her in death.
A supervisor at Essex in Ligonier and Topeka, she retired in 1985 with 35 years of service.
On May 17, 1958 she married Irvin E. Gans. They always made their home in Wolf Lake. Mr. Gans died January 11, 1993.
Her memberships included Light House Tabernacle Church.
Surviving relatives include a son, Thomas L. (Phyllis) Reed of Columbia City; three grandchildren, Justin Reed, Todd Reed and Pamela Kreig; eight great grandchildren, Samuel Reed, Isabell Daylen Kreig, Hunter Reed, Kerrie Reed, Kaleb Reed, Tanner Reed, Kloe Kreig and Cody Hinen.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rhonda Faye Reed; three sisters, Elsie Newsom, Carmel Jean Mitchell and Jewell Hamilton; and a brother, Ishmal Caudill.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Pastor Dan Carlson officiating. The burial will be in Wolf Lake Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
