Walter C. Eix, 86, a resident of Fort Wayne, died at 2:59 p. m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He had been in declining health and had been hospitalized for most of the past month.
Mr. Eix was born on May 1, 1923, and spent most of his life in Fort Wayne. He served with the Army during World War II and was married in Fort Wayne on June 7, 1946, to Goldie Moyer.
He had been previously employed at Wayne Pump and at General Electric. He retired from Wayne Home Equipment. In his leisure time he enjoyed his vegetable garden, and growing roses and strawberries. Most importantly he loved and enjoyed his family.
He was a member of the Eel River Baptist Church near Churubusco.
The surviving relatives include his wife, Goldie; his children Richard W. (Marsha) Eix, David L. Eix, Stanley A. (Lorrie) Eix, and Laura (Jon) Arvola, all of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held June 6, at the Eel River Baptist Church, with Pastor Kerry Niman, as officiant. Internment was in the Eel River Cemetery, Allen County.
