Anna Irene Schwartz, 87, of South Whitley, died at 1:40 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009, at her home.
She was born April 18, 1922, in Midland, Michigan, a daughter of William and Clara (Miller) Miller. At the age of 13, her family moved to Grabill.
On January 16, 1942, she married David Schwartz and they moved to their farm in Cleveland Township, Whitley County in 1975. Mr. Schwartz died June 17, 2008.
She is survived by six sons, John Henry (Margaret) Schwartz, Rueben Schwartz, Samuel (Amelia) Schwartz, Michael (Margaret) Schwartz, Amos (Emma) Schwartz and David (Marie) Schwartz, all of South Whitley; six daughters, Clara (Jesse) Graber of Goshen, Rosa (Jonas) Zehr, Mary (Jacob) Miller, Anna (Jacob) Schwartz, all of Grabill, Sarah (Edwin) Schmucker, New Haven and Susan (Joe) Steury, Quincy, Michigan; 92 grandchildren; 216 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lorene Schmucker of New Haven and Sarah Mae Schmucker of Grabill.
He was preceded in death by daughter-in-laws Martha and Wilma; and six grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the family residence, 6180 West County Road 1000 South with Victor Schmucker, officiating. The burial will be in the Cleveland Township Amish Cemetery. The visitation will be after 12 Noon Monday at the family residence until the hour of the service.
The funeral arrangements are by the Smith & Sons Miller Chapel in South Whitley.
