Betty Katherine Scutt, 86, of Columbia City passed away at 6:40 a.m. August 18, 2009, surrounded by her loving family at her home. 
Born December 26, 1922 in Corydon, Indiana, she was the daughter of Amzie and Clella (Davis) Eaton.
She graduated from Corydon High School with the Class of 1940.
On August 7, 1946, she was united in marriage to Pastor Morris E. Scutt in Corydon. A former resident of various Indiana cities including Corydon, Columbus, Spencer and Connersville, she lived in Columbia City since 1961.
From 1969-1980 she worked at P.N. Hirsch, Columbia City. In 1980, she became manager at Dollar General, Columbia City, and in 1983, she began working with her daughter, Rebecca Ball, as the bookkeeper for Our Compliments Gift Shop in Columbia City, until her retirement in 1993.
She attended Community Bible Church, Columbia City.
Survivors include sons, Morris V. (Cledah) Scutt of Bloomington and Paul J. (Carol) Scutt of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughters, Rebecca Ball of Columbia City, Rachel E. (Richard) Presser of Fort Wayne, Leah S. (Ronald) Wigand of Caro, Michigan, and Marcia E. (Duane) DuCharme of Columbia City; 26 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Pastor Morris Scutt, and grandson Scot Scutt and granddaughter Diana Asbury.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2009 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home in Columbia City. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at the funeral home with Pastor Ronald Wigand and Pastor John Cummings officiating. Burial will follow at Nolt Cemetery , Columbia City.
