Jeffrey Lynn "Indian" Enyeart, 59

Jeffrey Lynn "Indian" Enyeart, 59, of South Whitley passed away at 7:06 a.m., August 28, 2009 at his home.

Born on August 30, 1949 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Charles D. and June M. (Shultz) Enyeart. 

A lifetime resident of South Whitley, he graduated from South Whitley High School with the Class of 1967.

On June 8, 1992, he married Bernice Hackworth in Tennessee.

For 35 years, he worked at Zimmer, Warsaw, as a factory worker retiring in April of 2008.

He was a member of South Whitley Church of the Brethren, South Whitley Kiwanis Club and a volunteer with the Cleveland Township Fire Department for 19 years. A former coach with South Whitley Little League, he also played with the South Whitley Men’s Basketball Intramural League. In his spare time, he enjoyed local high school sports, traveling, outdoor activities including fishing, hunting, camping and canoeing. 

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Enyeart of South Whitley; daughters, Jacquie (Matt) Harkness of Silver Lake and JoEllen (Randy Sr.) Richardson of Owensboro, Kentucky; a son, Jeremy Enyeart of South Whitley; step-daughter, Tammy Fisher of Mentone; mother, June M. Enyeart of South Whitley; a brother, Wendell (Laura) Enyeart of Larwill; a sister, Alison (Dave) Mendenhall of Lima, Ohio; grandchildren, Brian Herold of Mentone; Ariel Harkness of Silver Lake; Ciora Harkness of Chesapeake, Virginia; Zachary Harkness of Silver Lake; Breanna and Mason Parker and Randy Richardson, Jr. all of Owensboro, Kentucky; and a niece, Jayna Enyeart of South Whitley.

He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, Frank & Effie Enyeart and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Shultz. 

Visitation is 2:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2009 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home in Columbia City. Funeral service is 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2009 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Baughman of Bethel Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at South Whitley Cemetery, South Whitley. Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Enyeart to the Whitley County Humane Society or Parkview Whitley Home Health and Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
