Larry W. Sims, 62, of South Whitley, died at 12:32 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne where he had been admitted Sunday evening. 
He was born September 28, 1946, in Lebanon, Indiana, a son of Willis and Geraldine (Cunningham) Sims. His formative years where spent in South Whitley where he attended South Whitley Elementary and High School.
On October 2, 1964, he was united in marriage to Judy Grubbs. After a several years of moving around the country following his construction job erecting high tension electrical transmission towers, they returned to South Whitley.
He was employed several years as a custodian at Whitko High School and for the past 31 years as a highly skilled polisher at Fox Products, South Whitley.
He was an avid deer hunter and loved tending his vegetable garden.
Surviving relatives include his wife of 44 years, Judy; children, Gary (Jodi) Sims of South Whitley, Lisa (Brian) Keirn of Claypool, and Doug (Kristal) Sims of Pierceton,; 7 grandchildren, Jordan and Sydney Sims, Brian II and Breanna Keirn and Devin, Dylan, Kayce Sims; four sisters, Phyllis (Gerald) Stayer, N. Manchester, Fran (Dick) Adams of Comfort, TX, Judy (Jon) Wilmot and Rita Shelton both of Columbia City; three brothers, Chester (Liz) Sims of Churubusco, Charles D. (Glenda) Sims, South Whitley and Timothy (Beth) Sims of Shelbyville, MI; and a sister-in-law, Roberta Sims, South Whitley
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Willis “Bill” Sims.
The funeral service was held Monday, August 24, at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel , South Whitley with Rev. Jason Tash of New Hope Wesleyan Church officiating. The burial was in the South Whitley Cemetery.
