Lee E. Lopshire, 61, of Huntington County, died Saturday, August 22, 2009 at his home. He had been in failing health for the past 10 months. 
He was born March 30, 1948, in Fort Wayne, a son of Ralph E. and Arneda G. (Haney) Lopshire. His formative years were spent in Union Township, Whitley County. He graduated from Columbia City High School.
During the Vietnam Era, he served in Germany with the United States Army.
On August 5, 1972, he was united in marriage to Vicki S. Little. They made their first home in North Manchester before moving to their home in Huntington County in 1973.
He was employed at Dana Corp. from January 1972 until February 2007.
His memberships included Lions Club of Bippus.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Vicki; two children, Troy (Michele) Lopshire of Huntington County and Shannon (Kweku) Obed of Oak Park, Illinois; five grandchildren; a sister, Martha Garrison of Sun Lake, Arizona; and three brothers, Paul Lopshire of South Whitley, Gary Lopshire of Round Lake and David Lopshire of Covington, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Autism Research in care of Indiana University Medical Center.
