Robert Samuel Wells, age 83, of Warsaw passed away at 9:45 a.m. Monday, August 17, 2009 at Mason Health Care Center, Warsaw.
Born on August 10, 1926 in Warsaw, he was the son of Samuel and Mildred Carrie (Hill) Wells. 
A lifetime resident of the Warsaw area, he attended Warsaw High School. He served in World War II in the Pacific Campaign on the USS Albert Grant.
In 1946, he married Josephine Reiff Galbreath Wells and they had one son, Richard Wells. In 1963, he married Geraldine Pressler Hoffer in Warsaw.
He was employed as a delivery truck driver retiring from Purity Cylinder Gases, Inc. in 1988. His memberships included Warsaw American Legion Post #49, VFW Post #1126 and Pheasants Forever.
Survivors include his son, Richard (Frances) Wells of Pierceton; brother, Max Wells of Kendallville; step-sons, Dan (Marlene) Hoffer, Paul (Judy) Hoffer and Ron (Loetta) Hoffer all of Warsaw; a grandson, Todd Wells of North Webster; numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Wells, brother, Charles "Chuck" Wells and sister, Emma Jane Secor.
Graveside service is Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with Pastor Brad Cox officiating. Military honors will be presented by American Legion Post #49, Warsaw.
Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Wells to the heart transplant fund for Teal Stamper who is a step-great-granddaughter via www.cota.org
