Treva B. Mossburg, 92

Treva B. Mossburg, 92, of Columbia City, died Saturday, August 1, 2009 at her home.

She was born October 29, 1916, in Whitley County, a daughter of Henry Dot & Elsie Fern (Crawford) Traster. She began her education at the McClellan School and graduated from the 8th grade at Schrader School. She attended Columbia City High School two years and graduated from Coesse High School in 1934.

On December 25, 1936, she was united in marriage to Ronald Delmer Mossburg. They always made their home in the Columbia City area, moving to their home just south of Columbia City in 1960. Mr. Mossburg died September 11, 1991.

She was a Fullerette for a year, selling cosmetics door to door for Fuller Brush Company. She gave piano lessons for a number of years, was staff organist for Hollingsworth Memorial Chapel for 30 years and was involved in the music department at Oak Grove Church of God for over 70 years. The church honored her musical contributions in September 2002 with an open house.

A member of Oak Grove Church of God since 1926, she was also a member of its Mission Circle since 1941. Her hobbies included quilting.

Surviving relatives include a daughter, Beverly Sue (Dennis) Hearld; three grandchildren, Douglas (Jeanette) Hearld, Timothy (Denise) Hearld and Angela (Matthew) Adams; and eight great-grandchildren, Justin, Kaitlyn, Kristin, Carlee, Timothy & Allie Hearld, Derek & Garrett Adams, all of Columbia City.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Evelyn Heintzelman and Doris Fern Harris.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Rev. Stephen Johnson and Rev. Robert Eatherton officiating. The burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
