Harry R. Bogner, 80

Harry R. Bogner, 80, of Etna Troy Township, Whitley County, died at 5:56 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2009 at his home. He had been in failing health for the past seven years.

He was born April 19, 1929, in Richland Township, a son of Melvin and Editha (Heltzel) Bogner. At the age of five, his family moved to Noble County. He completed his education at Kendallville High School.

On September 5, 1953, he was united in marriage to Norma R. Gage. They made their home in Albion until 1958 when they moved to Etna Troy Township.

He was grain & livestock farmer.

His memberships included Troy Presbyterian Church.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Norma; three children, William “Bill” Bogner of Larwill, Shari Schaeffer of Greenfield and David (Sherri) Bogner of Columbia City; eight grandchildren, Kory, Kassie & Kyle Vanderford, Jeremy, Christopher & Brenden Bogner, and Brooke & Ryan Bogner; a great-grandson, Aden Garrison; a sister, Virginia Bogner of Fort Wayne; and two brothers, Earlin Bogner of West Lafayette and Glenn Bogner of Auburn.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sara A. Bogner; a brother, Raymond Bogner; and a sister, Mary Muesing.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Troy Presbyterian Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
