Allen R. Snodgrass, 57, of rural Columbia City, died at 9 p.m. Friday, December 25, 2009 at his home after a two year battle with colon cancer. 
He was born November 24, 1952, in Laporte, Indiana, a son of John William and Hilda Pauline (Campbell) Snodgrass, Sr. He attended Columbia City Joint High School and completed his education at Huntington College.
On November 20, 1971, he was united in marriage to Sally J. Winkler. They made their first home in Huntington. In 1972, he was drafted into the United States Army. Following his discharge, they made their home in Peabody for a year before returning to Huntington. In 1987, they moved to their home in Washington Township, Whitley County.
He was employed at Bailey’s Marathon, Columbia Home Improvement, Ulrich Saw Mill, Victory Noll and for the past 30 years, Shuttleworth in Huntington. He also co-owned/operated Tassco Crafts & Woodworking in Tunker for more than 10 years.
His memberships included National Rifle Association.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Sally; two children, Tenel (David E.) Hawn and Shane (Nancy) Snodgrass, all of Columbia City; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; three brothers, Ronald Snodgrass of Middlebury, John Snodgrass, Jr., of Clinton and Rick Snodgrass of Columbia City; and two sisters, Sandra Smith and Loretta Snodgrass, both of Columbia City.
His parents preceded him in death.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Nolt Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
