Naomi I. Weeks, 96
Naomi I. Weeks, 96, of Columbia City, died at 5:51 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at her home south of Columbia City. 
She was born May 7, 1913, in Manistee County, Michigan, a daughter of Thurlo Cleveland and Effie Mae (Madison) Hile. As a young girl, her family moved to a farm near South Whitley. In 1928, they moved to Columbia City. She completed her education at Columbia City High School.
On April 4, 1931, she was united in marriage to George R. Weeks in Lagrange County. In 1941, they moved to their home on Brownwood Avenue, Columbia City. Mr. Weeks died April 21, 1994. Naomi has made her home with her daughter, Sandra, south of Columbia City since September 2000.
She was employed at Blue Bell, Viking and retired from Dana in Churubusco.
Surviving relatives include two sons and a daughter, George Richard (Jean) Weeks of Arcola, Kent (Nancy) Weeks of Port Charlotte, Florida, and Sandra Bates of Columbia City; six grandchildren, Robert (Sherry) Weeks, Katy Weeks, Stacy (Matt) Ledington, Bill Snyder, Mike Snyder and Rick (Penny Myer) Snyder; and six great-grandchildren, Andy, Matt & Erica Weeks, Erica & Stephanie Chin, Gared (Trisha) Snyder.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Richard Matthew Weeks; three brothers, Harold, Max and Ronald Hile; and four sisters, Claudia Dipert, Yvonne Jean Betzner, Cleo Rody and Lenna Collins.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Humane Society of Whitley County.
