Martha Jane White, 84
Martha Jane White, 84, of Columbia City passed away at 11:25 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2010, at Parkview Whitley Hospital.
Born on November 9, 1925, in Columbia City, she was the daughter of Dorsey Alan and Alice May (Long) White.
She has been a resident of Columbia City and Columbia Township, Whitley County, since birth. She began attending the Salavation Army as a small child & continued until the Salvation Army closed their Columbia City location. She then became a member of the Columbia City Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her 3 nephews, Elmer (Joan) Stocker of Carmel; Dorsey (Cindy) Simmons of Fort Wayne; Carl V. Simmons of Columbia City; 2 nieces, Esther (Dennis Creech) Smith and Beth (Ron) Glassley both of Columbia City; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Arthur D. White, sisters, Ethel Eldridge and Ruth B. White Simmons and brother-in-law, Ned V. Simmons.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 11:00 a.m-1:00 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive , Columbia City. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the funeral home with Pastor Thomas Beers of Columbia City Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow at South Park (Original) Cemetery . Memorial gifts may be given in Ms. White's memory to final expense account c/o DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home or Salvation Army. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
